EASTERN AMATEUR ARABIAN HORSE SHOW CIRCUIT

LAURA'S LANE

Winter/Spring 2008

Even though cold weather is still here, there are many signs that Spring is just around the corner. The trees are budding, the tulips are peeking out of the ground, the days are gradually getting longer, and the horses are shedding their warm winter coats. Although showing may seem like a long time away, the regions of EAAHSC are already planning the shows and events for 2008.

North East MD and South Central PA will kick off the 2008 show season at Bel Aire on May 3rd and 4th. Then it’s off to Fairhill for South East PA’s show on June 21st and 22nd. Southern DE’s show at Harrington on August 9th and 10th will be a double judges/double points show and will also host the Futurity on August 9th. Council will close out the show season at Bel Aire on August 30th and 31st. But don’t turn out your horses to pasture just yet…Bring them along to the Banquet!

NEW THIS YEAR, the Banquet will be held at Fairhill on the October 24-26 weekend. Bring your horse and trail ride during the day. Then come to the Banquet at the E. L. Walls Activity Hall right on the grounds Saturday night. Stalls and camping spaces will be available on a limited basis so watch for reservation forms in future issues of the Circuit Express. Council is really excited about the new format and hopes you’ll join us for a great weekend of fun and fellowship!

Summer 2007

Show season is in full swing!

I hope everyone is having a great time out at the shows with horses and friends. In this issue you’ll find the prize list for the Council show – our last show of the season on September 1 and 2 at Belair. Don’t forget about the pot luck exhibitors’ dinner on Saturday night – you won’t want to miss out on all the great food and recipe swapping!

We are still getting new memberships in for 2007 which is fantastic! Keep up the excellent work in spreading the word about our Circuit. If you have any ideas that would help our club get exposure (horse expos, fairs, advertising, etc.) please let us know so we can get signed up.

IMPORTANT REMINDER!!!
Don’t forget to provide a copy and show your original papers to the high point chairmen (Bruce & Rethea Deveney or Shirley Craig) if you wish to be considered for high point awards. Original papers must be shown every year by the last show or you will not receive your high point awards.

Even though 2007 is only halfway through, it’s also time to start thinking about 2008. Council nominations need to be made so we can get ballots out in the next issue of the Circuit Express. Even if you are not interested in holding office, we could still use your help with committees. Let your regional chairman or any Council officer know if you would like to volunteer.

Lastly, make sure you attend your regional meetings to stay informed on club happenings and decisions that could affect you. Let your voice be heard!

Good luck exhibitors!!

Happy New Year!

First and foremost I would like to thank everyone for voting in this past election. This organization has always been close to my heart since I first became involved with horses and I intend to serve it well as Chairman. We have an excellent group of individuals representing the regions and volunteering for committees that work well together and have the Circuit’s best interests at heart, but we still need your help. I have two goals for the Circuit this year: increase participation and increase membership.

This organization is driven by its active membership- regions rely on volunteers to hold positions, help run shows, schedule and man other events (i.e. trail rides, picnics, expos, clinics, etc.) and attend regional meetings. Ask your regional chairman what you can do to help this year. The smallest of efforts will be greatly appreciated!!

Our membership has been declining in recent years due to many factors and it’s time to turn that trend around. So here’s a challenge: Every Member Get a Member. Remember, the EAAHSC is not just a show circuit. Even people who don’t own registered Arabians can benefit from our Circuit by participating in trail rides, clinics, and meetings and can enjoy the camaraderie of other horse owners. Before long, they’ll have an Arabian to show on the Circuit as well. We have a fantastic organization that many people would love to be a part of!

It is my hope that, with your help, this organization will grow and thrive. Please contact me or your regional chairman with any ideas you may have. I am very excited about being your Council Chairman and I hope my enthusiasm for this organization is contagious!
