EASTERN AMATEUR ARABIAN HORSE SHOW CIRCUIT
|
2005 HORSE OF THE YEAR
CONGRATULATION'S !!
I always look forward to showing on the Circuit! I find it a wonderful atmosphere to compete in what I love with extremely knowledgeable and supportive friends. When the first show rolled around this past year, I was especially excited. I planned on showing HA Dusk till Dawn again… What I mean by ‘again’ is quite a story. I showed Dusk as a 5 year old in 2003 where she surprised many when she won EAAHSC Horse of the Year! She proved her potential and talents and we became quite the team, even through her stubborn moments. At the end of the 2003 show season, Dusk had a major accident injuring her back legs. In fact the weekend of the banquet that year Dusk was at New Bolton Equine Center. We were'nt sure if her deep lacerations would heal correctly giving her full range of motion or if her hoof would grow correctly due to a cut to her cornet band near her heal. After wearing a cast and splint on her back legs and months of dressing changes, Dusk, with her strong will, pulled through. That attitude proved to serve her well!
Dusk’s injury healed perfectly and never affected her performance, although she was given the following year off to grow new hoof and just be a pasture buddy. After a year of rest, I decided it was time to prove Dusk’s soundness and talents once again. Dusk and I practiced many hours in the pasture, conditioning for the upcoming show season. She seemed to not miss a beat and quickly remembered her roll as a show horse, but not without moments of pushing my buttons. We worked through some attitude issues and meanwhile grew closer as a team. Dusk never ceases to surprise me! Together, we earned Adult High Point Rider at the Arabian Games, the Jeanne Barry Year End Award, and EAAHSC Exhibitor of the Year this past year.
Dusk’s a little horse with a lot of heart. I’m proud to have the honor of raising, training, and showing Dusk. Dusk and I are thrilled to be named the 2005 High Point Horse of the Year.
None of this would be possible with out the love and support of my parents. Thank you Mom and Dad for all you do! I’d also like to thank everyone from the EAAHSC family, especially the many great role models!
